Avante-Garde Late Night Artists

I haven't done the personal blog thing since before it was called a blog, before live journal was a big thing, far before myspace and facebook, when you could still get songs on Napster and the RIAA and MPAA weren't clubbing innocent people with lawsuits.

We were a small tight-knit community of coders, writers - avante-garde late night artists with a thing for Gibson, cyberpunk, green on black terminal and industrial techno.

We wrote our websites by hand in php, html and css. Composed entries (not posts) without a WYSISWG, uploaded the new file and a script would automatically update the main page and add it to the archive. Our sites were hosted by friends with dedicated linux machines in their homes, hacked together out of spare parts they had reassembled into working rigs.

I can still find some of their journals in the black, if not there, archive.org has a bit of mine even. But this is more of a random spur to write on - less of the place I once occupied.
